Ingredients (serves 4)

Bean balls

  • 450 g cooked black beans
  • 200 g button mushrooms
  • 1 onion
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • oil for cooking
  • 2 dl rolled oats
  • 1 dl flour (also gluten-free flour such as almond flour works)
  • 0,5 dl Aito Oat Cuisine Roasted onion
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 0,5 tsp salt
  • dash of white and black pepper
  • ~2 tbsp oil

  • 3 tbsp dairy-free margarin or vegan butter
  • 3 tbsp flour, use gluten-free if needed (for example rice flour)
  • 3 dl vegetable broth (3 dl boiling water with ½ vegetable broth cube)
  • 2 dl Aito Oat Cuisine Roasted onion
  • dash of white and black pepper
  • salt to taste

Mashed potatoes

  • 1 kg potatoes
  • cooking water
  • 2 tbsp margarin
  • salt to taste

Preheat oven to 200 C. Drain and rinse black beans. Clean and slice mushrooms. Chop onions and garlic and cook in oil for a few minutes. Add mushrooms and cook until slightly browned. Mix all bean ball ingredients in a food processor until you have a firm dough. Leave some bits for texture. Let chill for at least 15 minutes in the fridge.

Roll into small balls. Brush each one with oil and bake in the oven for 30 minutes or until crispy on the outside. Let cool to firm them up. Cook potatoes. Save a small part of the cooking water and mash potatoes with margarine and spices. Warm margarine in a pan. Add flour and toast in the pan for a few minutes. Add vegetable broth and bring to a boil while whisking the sauce. Pour AITO Oat cuisine, add spices and keep whisking until the gravy is smooth. Serve bean balls with gravy and potato mash.
